Five tips for improving your well-being following a breast cancer diagnosis

August 4, 2017

Want to know how you can improve your well-being following a breast cancer diagnosis? Life coach Amelia Harvey shares five things you can do to get the ball rolling.

  1. Plan moments of quiet and stillness in your day - meditation is a great way to do this, find an app or a guided meditation that works for you.

  2. Journalling - when stressed, overwhelmed and busy things seem very big in our heads but when we can take the time out to get them on paper, we realise really clearly that they often aren’t as big of a deal and it gives you a chance to sort through things.  Particularly with a breast cancer diagnosis this is a great way to get everything off your mind and onto paper.

  3. Healthy eating - in a way that works for you and makes you feel good.

  4. Exercise and movement - ask yourself daily, what does by body need today, what is my energy like today.

  5. Putting time aside each week for you to recharge your batteries - take a bath, go to bed early, read a book, take time out from housework and jobs around the house, make time for coffee with a friend, leave your phone in another room to keep that overstimulating distraction out of site for an afternoon or evening.
